JOB SUMMARY The Lead Mechanical CAD Designer is a highly experienced individual contributor responsible for theend-to-endmechanical CAD design, configurationcontroland lifecycle support of complex mechanical systems, including chillers, coolant distribution units (CDUs), thermal subsystems, enclosures, structuralframeworksand fluid piping assemblies. This role requires deephands-onexpertisein advanced parametric modeling, configurationawaredesignand manufacturing documentation. The engineer independently executes complex designs, owns model and drawing integrity andserves as a key technical contributor in crossfunctional product development efforts throughout concept, NPI, production and sustaining phases. Job Title : Lead Mechanical CAD Designer Organization : Data Center Infrastructure Team Location: Austin, TX - or Remote * * Requires up to 25% domestic and/or international travel (rare) Key Responsibilities Mechanical CAD Design System Integration Independently design andmaintaincomplex mechanical assemblies using advanced parametric CADmodelinginSolidWorksand/orCreo. Develop detailed layouts and assemblies encompassing structural elements, enclosures, piping systems, thermal components, pumps,valvesand mounting interfaces. Ensure mechanical designs meet performance, thermal, structural, manufacturability,serviceabilityand customer requirements. Resolve systemlevel mechanical integration challenges, including packaging constraints and interface definition. ConfigurationAware Design Lifecycle Execution Executeconfigurationandrevision-controlledCAD designs supporting multiple product variants,optionsand revisions within a common platform. Maintain stability and integrity of complex models as engineering changes are introduced over time. Implement engineering changes (ECR/ECNs), ensuring traceability, compatibility with releasedconfigurationsand minimal disruption to production. Ensure consistent alignment between CAD models, drawings,BOMsand PLM data across all lifecycle stages. Manufacturing Documentation Produce andmaintainproductionready manufacturing drawings, applying expertlevel GD T, tolerancestack‑ups, materials,finishesand inspectionqualityrequirements. Design parts and assemblies with strong consideration for DFM/DFA, fabrication methods, welding,machiningand final assembly. Support prototype builds, pilotproductionand manufacturing issue resolution through rapid design updates and documentation corrections. Ensure designs support repeatable, high‑yield manufacturing across multiple sites, suppliers, and production volumes. CrossFunctional Technical Collaboration Work closely with electrical engineering to coordinate mechanicalelectrical interfaces, routingpathsand packaging clearances. Partner with manufacturing, supply chain,qualityandproductionteams to addressbuildissues,componentchanges, andallfeedback. Provide technical input during design reviews, releasereadinessassessmentsand product change discussions. Contribute to the refinement of CAD standards, modelingpracticesanddocumentationquality through handson execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineeringor equivalent professional experience. 8+ years ofhandsonmechanical CAD design experience with complex,multicomponentassemblies. Expertproficiencyin Creo and/or SolidWorks, including advanced parametric modeling methodologies. Strong command of GD T, tolerancing and manufacturing documentation
